LE FIGARO - On the RTL set, Jean-Michel Aphatie explained that the Nazis behaved like the French in Algeria. A comparison that you consider risky and which, according to you, dilutes the specificity of Nazism and colonization. Why?
Ferghane AZIHARI - It would be absurd to downplay the violence of the conquest of Algeria , its share of massacres and dispossessions. The conquest of Algeria had its detractors in mainland France from the very beginning, like the liberal politician Henri Fonfrède who denounced a "real parricide [...], a crime against the nation and against humanity" .
